TEENAGE CLINIC

AN INTRODUCTION

TEENAGE is an age of anxiety, modern day epidemic in young children, teens and young adults result in not just unhappiness or sadness but restlessness, listlessness, weakness, helplessness and hopelessness. Depressed teenagers generally not interested in talking about their unhappiness or sadness neither with their parents nor with their teachers or friends.

They are more irritable, impatient and angry towards their parents and caretakers. They can't tolreate life's small failures and even a low grade in academic performance. Fear, worry, anger and anxiety alters the physiology of the body and psychology of the mind.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN EMOTIONS OVERTAKE THE TEENAGER

When fear occupies the mind, the teenager cannot concentrate well on his studies, hence his academic performance will be lowered.

When worry occupies the mind, it is not possible for him to think properly, hence he is very often too confused.

Anger generally ends in aggression and violence.

Anxiety confuses his young mind and undermines his intellectual performance and mental capacity to a lower level.

Sadness disturbs his mental equilibriam and dulls his physical activity.

Mental agony and emotional distress disrupts his day-to-day normal activities.

Doubt and even slight suspicion of parents and care-takers destroys his confidence and trust.
